June/July Regattas

June 11th
A good turnout today – it was lovely to see everyone. Although he probably did not intend it, Bryn managed to score a very rare bullseye with his B1R when his boat collided with the centre pole! Thank you to everyone for the very kind gifts and cake and to Steve for the presentation on behalf our recent wedding – much appreciated.

Round 1
A3 Ron had a nice run 73.47mph. Bryn, John U, John H, Tony, Norman or Stuart did not finish the laps.
A2 Steve had a nice run 103.96 mph and John U had a very good run 114.99mph. Norman had engine problems,
S40 Stuart had a nice run 86.04mph.
A1E Bryn broke his boat; the skeg broke off and Angela had a radio problem.
A1 Ron had a good run 92.70mph. Pete had a bad launch and Steve had a good run 95.82.
A/S Ian still having problems with the blow lamps and pumps - the pit team will work on it.

A3 Tony changed the pipe to a steel one and got a good run 120.67mph. John H had a smooth run 89.52mph, John U changed the prop and got a nice run 99.97mph Neither Bryn or Norman could not get needle settings.
A/B Ron was on form 133.36mph
A2 Both Steve and John had BAD launches; Norman did not run.
S40 Stuart had a bad launch.
A/S Ian did not run as the team was working hard on the burners and pumps.
A1 Ron, Pete, Steve, Stuart did not finish the laps.
A1E Angela had a very good run and broke the record 128.37mph>
B1 Pete and Bryn both had BAD launches nose-diving.

Round 3
A3 Tony had a slower run 118.28mph. Stuart, John H and John U did not finish the laps
A/B Ron had engine problems needle broken off.
A2 Steve and John had engine problems.
S40 Stuart had a bad launch again.
A1 Ron had a nice run 92.60mph Pete and Steve did not finish the laps.
A1E Angela did not run anymore.
B1R Bryn scored a BULLSEYE - he had a bad launch and the boat hit the centre pole.
B1 Bryn and Pete were still on form; BAD launches, nose diving.

A/S Ian did not run; Norman and Steve to help sort out pumps and timing on the engine.

Tony had a good run he changed the prop 122.54mph. John, Stuart and Bryn did not finish the laps. No one else chose to run as time was running out. A very good day and thanks for everyone’s hard work!

July 2nd: Another good turnout – it was lovely to see everyone. The weather remained dry although rather breezy at times, the event tent needing securing down more than usual! Some ‘new to me boats’ made an appearance and Rick Benson had given his boat a new lick of paint.

Round 1
A class Ron Hankins had a bad launch and boat did not come off the bungee. Rick had a nice run 61.16mph
A/S Ian Berne still had timing problems so will strip engine out and give to Norman.
A/B Ron and Tony Collins making his debut in the class did not finish their laps but were quite fast.
A3 Tony, John Underwood and Stuart Falconer could not get needle settings; Norman got a run 100.00mph
A2 Steve Poyser had a con rod let go so that went back in the box. John could not get a needle setting, Norman had a very rich run at 79.29mph to bed in new parts.
A1 Neither Stuart, Steve or Pete Dirs finished their laps.
A1E Angela Lara set another record 128.83mph.
B1E Dave had his new boat and got a run 87.12mph, a good start.
B1 Angela, Pete and Dave didn’t finish their laps, whilst Bryn Colman showed the way with a personal best of 129.13mph’
B1S Bryn had a bad launch.

A Rick tried his other boat but broke the needle so could not tune the engine.
A/S Ian tried the red boat but the same problem his balls got stuck on the water pump.
A/B Tony had a bad launch and Ron had a very good run 137.00mph.

July 16th: Another good turnout – it was lovely to see everyone. The weather was very hot from the start so it was umbrellas and gazebos up for the shade. Everyone mucked in to set up thanks to all

Round 1
AB Rick did not finish the laps, as the engine was too rich.
A/S  Ian did not run, as the red boat was not working right on the poppet valve; he had spent a lot of time in the workshop making new parts. The A-team to look at it.
A/B  Tony had a bad launch.
A3  John had a good run 120.47mph; Ron, Bryn, Tony, did not finish the timed laps.
A2  Steve had a good run 112.17mph; Norman, John, Rick could not get a needle setting.
A1  Ron also could not get a needle setting; Pete had a new boat and engine so it was very hard to start.
B1  Dave had a bad launch; Pete had a good launch and it was quick but did not finish the laps.
B1S  Norman had a new model but had a loose needle so did not launch; Bryn had a engine failure so needs to get a new engine.
B1E  Dave did not give it enough power for the bungee so it stopped.

A2  John had a slower run 84.41mph; Steve, Norman, Rick did not run.
A1  Pete got this new engine to start but the propeller was too big.
A1E  Bryn had a very good run 99.20mph.

A1  Pete got the new boat around slow, bedding in the engine,
B1S  Norman had a nice run 106.96mph and was very happy, John had a bad launch.
